My Favorite Place: Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico

Right outside of Puerto Vallarta lies a tiny Mexican village called Sayulita which I have been vacationing to for as long as I can remember! Over the past Winter Break I was fortunate enough to spend Christmas and ring in the New Year soaking up the culture (and sun) of this hidden gem; I even got in a little horseback riding, as you can see in the picture above. This little surf town definitely does not provide the typical Mexico experience; here, you won't find a building over three stories on Sayulita's cobblestone streets. For example, here's what many of the building fronts look like taken by a Flickr user, Waywuwei:

In this picture I took of an iguana, you can see the cobblestone streets:

Another reason that Sayulita is my favorite place is the food...
This is one of my favorite Mexican dishes, chilaquiles. It's pretty much nachos for breakfast, yum!

  1. Oh my gosh, Ashlyn: serious danger from looking at this blog post near dinner-time. I love chilaquiles! That is one of my favorite foods too... and I am not ashamed to eat it for supper, ha ha. I have something much more boring planned... chilaquiles in Sayulita sound much better than spaghetti and meatballs! And how cool that you found a picture like that to use at Flickr: the way people share their photos there is so generous, and it's cool to think about how totally different people visit the same places and are connected in that way. You will find all kinds of great resources to use for the India class, too, thanks to all the pictures people share online!
