Week 15 Tech Tip: Google Timer

I have chosen to write about Google Timer for this week's tech tip because it is a feature that I have been utilizing a lot recently. I have been studying for the GMAT so timing is of utmost importance - you are actually penalized for not finishing on time! This has been a great help in pacing myself. Additionally, I devoted one of my learning challenge blog posts to the Pomodoro technique. Essentially, you use a timer set to 25 minute intervals in order to make the most of your studying. This is a feature of Google that I definitely recommend!

Week 14 Tech Tip: Embed Tweet

You may or may not recognize what this tweet is all about but the context behind it is that Ahmed, a young Muslim, was detained after creating his own working clock that his high school believed to be a bomb. I just think it is so cool that President Obama recognized this young man, or even that in this day and age presidents are utilizing Twitter to interact with a younger generation. That is why I chose to use this week's Tech Tip to embed a tweet from Twitter.

Tech Tip Cheezburger

For this week's Tech Tip, I chose to use Cheezburger to create a meme. Of course, I decided to make the caption something about the end of the semester being right around the corner, so I wrote "Only two more weeks..." on my image. Although I didn't use a cat like the Tech Tip suggested, I used a super cute pup. This was a fun Tech Tip! Here it is:

Tech Tip: Reverse Image Search

For this week's Tech Tip, I used Google's reverse image search where you can upload an image and google will give you its source. This tip could be very handy in the future so I am glad that I learned about this neat tool. Here is the image that was provided by Professor Laura Gibbs to practice the reverse search:

Google also provided me with a source for this from Pinterest where I learned that this image (circa 1820) depicts Rama sending Hanuman to Lanka. 

Tech Tip: Known Profile

For this week's Tech Tip I created a Known Profile, which you can view at this link.

I made my avatar an image of a turtle for two reasons:

1. This is the theme of my storybook. 
2. I am known as a turtle by many of my friends because they think I move slowly... and I do but I like to live this way.

Tech Tip: Embed Pinterest Pin

One of my favorite ways to use Pinterest is for recipes. I also really love tea and so does India. So I decided to combine these interests and share with you a recipe for an Indian ginger cardamom chai tea. As if this tea couldn't sound any more delicious, ginger and chai are two of my favorite things. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I did!

Tech Tip: Sidebar Box

For this week's tech tip, I added an HTML/Javascript box to my sidebar as you may have noticed. I decided to call it "About My Blog" and included a brief summary that I thought may be beneficial to my blog viewers.

Tech Tip: Embed Tweet

For this week's Tech Tip, I chose to embed a tweet and Wow, I am so impressed! This is so cool. I chose this tweet posted by OU Daily and also re-tweeted by Professor Laura Gibbs because I thought it was very powerful and an impressive display on the part of OU's students.

Tech Tip: Website Theme

For this tech tip, I changed my website theme by choosing a background that I thought was appropriate for my story, Kurma and Karma. I was really happy with how it turned out! You can check it out for yourself here. Then let me know what you think in the comments section below.

Tech Tip: Google Site Title

For this Tech Tip, I changed my Storybook Website's home page title from "Home" to "A Tale of Two Turtles." I also removed the search bar and the link to my sitemap.

Tech Tip: Website

For this Tech Tip, I created a website for my future storybook, which I am thinking will be called Kurma and Karma! I have included a link to my Storybook Website here.

Poster Tech Tip: AutoMotivator

For this Tech Tip, I chose to make an AutoMotivator poster out of a quote that I recently came across and have been reminding myself of lately:

This was fun to make and turned out so well! The image is from Wigflip's AutoMotivator generator and the quote is by an unknown author.

Tech Tip: Embed SoundCloud

This week I decided to embed a song from SoundCloud into my blog. I love music because it is so powerful and can change the mood, at least mine, quickly. I listen to almost all genres of music and am always looking for new music, so please share! Here is a song I have had on repeat all week:

Tech Tip: Weather Widget

I liked the idea of being able to see what the weather is like where a blog is originating from, so I chose to add a weather widget to my blog. To do this, I followed instructions provided by my professor, Dr. Laura Gibbs.

Tech Tip: Blogger Profile

The first tech tip that I decided to try out was adding a blogger profile to my sidebar. I also added an image of myself to this profile. Since looking at Sarah Trapp's blog I have been wanting to do this because I think it really helps to be able to put a face to a name, especially in the online community!
